ICAD Round Up

Hello Friends

Today sees the end of the first four weeks of icad 2023.  Where has the month gone It certainly has flown by for me. I'm sure it has for you. of course, doing a small piece of art every day helps the time fly by whether I want it to or not.  It was my intention when I set out 30 days ago. to do a small piece of Art generally founded around tangling. well for the most part, I've managed to do that a couple of gone off course. However, in the last week or so I seem to have settled down very much into doing sort of mandalas. even when I use a compass and set square, I'm afraid I'm not very good at getting them perfect, like a lot of people do. Still, it's good practise to stop being such a perfectionist So maybe that's what I'm going to be learning out of icad this year.

Here are this week's pieces which round up the month of June.

  1. So beautiful and amazing Debbie. Some of them like number 30 look 3D! Wonderful work. We have a spirograph somewhere from when the children were little. Take care and stay safe.

    1. Thank you so much Caroline. I number 30 does look 3D doesn't it? It's coloured in using Derwent Graphitint paints. I think that's why it's got such a depth. I'm going to be writing a blog focusing just on the Spirograph, I think. Stay safe my friend.

  2. Hi Deb, love all of your cards. The first and last ones are my faves today. Today I was so tired, I just wanted to sleep, and I really did sleep till 5pm, then I got up and had breakfast! Hope you are doing well, take care! Hugs, Valerie
And I still have my spirograph, too!

    1. Thank you Valerie it's fun, making art isn't it. I'm sorry, you're so sleepy too. I suffer badly from side effects of my medication. I've even face planted into my art while working on it, because I can't help when I go to sleep. I hope you're feeling better after the weekend. hugs Deb

    1. Thank you Jan. The underwater vibe on the first one came about completely by accident. I'm glad you like it. Debbie,

  4. I know I am repeating myself, but I do love the colors and metallic sheen you have used. I guess I am in a "blue" mood as Bubble and the log cabin quilt are my favorites. I agree that # 30 looks like it is coming up off of the page, a 3D effect, for sure. Very cool. They look very complicated, but oh so lovely.

I had a spirograph, too. You are lucky you still have yours. Oh, the many hours of fun I had with mine. Good memories.

  6. Looking at your art makes me smile, Deb! Every one of them is quite unique. Number 29 and 27 are my favorites, I think. Or 26--How can I choose? I so enjoy your use of color.
I agree that time seems to be flying. How can it be July already?
    Take care, my friend.

    1. Thank you my friend. I'm sorry I'm causing you confusion over which one you like best. I am in the same position. I am just addicted to colour and. every time I look at my work, I pick a new favourite.

  7. I'm not sure what is not perfect about these. I think they are all lovely.

    1. Thank you Jeanie. By not being perfect, I meant that even using a compass and ruler and set square, I don't get the perfect precision layout that others achieve when using tools to help them. I don't know why I seem to do better at getting a more accurate layout when I draw free hand than I do using tools..

  8. Deb, I've been listening to a lot of artists interviewing artists. I've gone to their websites (these are professionals) and I have to say I like your paintings better! Te fact that you can come up with so many different designs in addition to selecting wonderful combinations of color show just how much of an artist you are!

    1. Thank you so much, Cathy for your incredibly kind words. They mean a lot for me and my little doodlings and ramblings. I just enjoy what I do and I. intend to keep doing it for as long as this dreadful disease will allow me to hold a pen and pencil not mention it. to mention a paint brush.!
