Update on my Great Grandmother's Rose

I have made enquiries and now have the name and contact details of the people who currently own the house where I grew up and where I believe my great grandmothers rose is still growing on the hedge in the garden. I have been told that they are very keen gardeners and are looking after the garden well, which I'm very pleased about. I will get back to you with a further update once I have met with them. I hope they will be interested in hearing a little of the history of the garden.

Thank you for all your wonderful comments on that entry, and for sharing the snippets of your childhood gardens and special plants too.

  2. What a gorgeous sample you have given us this time. They all have so much for the eye to see. I have looked at them three times now and see something new each time. It is very hard to pick a favorite, but I find myself going back to # 43 over and over. Just lovely~

  3. So lovely Debbie - you have a wonderful imagination and talent. Love them all.
That is wonderful news about the present owners of the house and the way they are keen gardeners. It will be lovely for you to meet them and tell them about the history of the garden. I once had a man call here who have lived in the house as a child years and years ago. He told me some interesting stories and I think he was relieved the house still looked similar and hadn't been over extended like many of the properties round here.

    1. Caroline, thank you so much. Yes, I'm hoping they will be interested in learning the history of the house. I think every house should have its history. written down somewhere. We're only just beginning to scratch the tip of that iceberg now but that one programme." A house through time." It's probably going to be the first of many, as it got this momentum as did researching a family history. I know there have been many changes to the property and the garden. It won't be the same. but at least I know these things have happened, and it won't be such a shock to my system.

  4. Deb, this set of ICAD is so intricate! I love them all, but the first heart piece captured my heart loving self! Then I noticed hearts in all of them except the last one--So much detail! Though I don't know the prompts for these, the last one reminds me of a seed or bean trying to break through the earth.
That's so nice you can fill in the owners of your childhood home about its history! I'm so glad to hear they are gardeners--you have a lot in common to discuss. Happy Weekend, dear friend!

    1. Martha Ellen. Thank you so much. I love heart shapes too. I seem to have been collecting them for some time. Fabric ones, painted wooden ones. and then the very special sea glass heart. A message from my late mother found on the beach. The header to my blog.
I haven't been following the prompts I've been following my heart! My dear friend, Lisa, says the last one reminds her of a piece of vintage jewellery. That's the great thing about art It means something different to everyone.
