Hello Friends!
Some nights sleep is just something you can only dream of in your waking hours. When insomnia strikes there is nothing you can do. Well, actually, there is something you can do. On those long nights when Mr Sandman forgets to drop by and I cannot get a wink, I triy to do something constructive. When I was awake last night, and nothing closed my peepers, I just put the light on, pulled out my paints and caught up on one of my missed lessons.
Here is my lovely Lotus Flower. I am calling it Lotus of the Dawn. That seems an appropriate title given the ungodly hour of the day I was creating it.
I used my new Winsor and Newton watercolour paints and new Caran d'Ache Prismacolour II waterproof colour pencils.
I hope you like it.
Until next time.
Stay safe. Stay well.
Debbie. xx
LOVE your beautiful lotus bloom, great way to get the night hours to pass. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Thank you, yes it beats watching telly all night!
DeleteOh, to have followed here from my blog LAWN TEA, and to have found Scrivenings and Witterings in the first line! Those words just delight my heart, for I scatter their kin all over the place, just throwing words out there to the breeze. And that LOTUS flower!! Such art is magical to me, in every line and stroke and shadow---I know only letters and words, and it seems a mystical gift to be able to think a thought and draw a line around it, capturing the essence and perfection for all time. Absolutely lovely. I hope you'll drop in again, and I've hit your FOLLOW button, as well. What a grand way to start this icy day!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm glad you like the lotus. Thank you for the follow, I think you'll find me on your list as Rustic Pumpkin. I need to check though, as the technology did not play nicely yesterday. Stay warm and safe in your icy weather!
DeleteI think you made a good choice when sleep was not your friend!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely painting using your new paints and pencils.
Hopefully sleep will not be a problem tonight ...
Take care, my good wishes.
All the best Jan
Thank you Jan. Unfortunately insomnia is a contraindication of my medication.
DeleteI can sympathise totally with having problems sleeping. I love the painting with your new paints and pencils. You certainly made good use of the time when you couldn't sleep. Take care Debbie. Caroline (Ragged Robin)
ReplyDeleteThank you, yes I know you understand. I wish for your sake you didn't. Well, painting beats watching the drivel that is on telly in the wee small hours.
DeleteSleep can be so elusive, my friend. Your Lotus of the Dawn is quite special. The shading of the petals and the gold ring is exquisite. Have a happy day and hopefully Mr. Sandman will visit tonight.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Martha Ellen. I'm on night three of no sleep but making up for it during the day, which is a little awkward if truth be told.
DeleteI have to say in all my times of sleep issues, I've never once got up and painted. Maybe I should. I love what you did -- the color is wonderful and it has a beautiful and ethereal feel.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie. I've tried everything to aid drifting off, nothing works so at least by painting I am doing something constructive.
DeleteLovely - we manage to fall asleep watching certain TV programmes
ReplyDeleteThank you, yes plenty of sleep inducing programming on at any given time!
DeleteIt's stunning, Deb...just stunning. As Jeanie said, it has an ethereal feel to it. I am sorry for your insomnia, but you created such beauty in those wee hours.
ReplyDeleteThank you my friend xx
