Hello friends
You may be relieved to learn that this is the last instalment of index card art for this year. It's taken me awhile to share it all because I've been so busy with all the other art I've been creating.
I've put three photos. For this first image, because the paint is so shimmery, it just doesn't come across with a straight facing forward photo and I really wanted to try and show you the proper full effect of the shimmer.
Many of you know that I take part in this index card art challenge every year. However, this year has been very different. There was no big index card art group on Facebook. However. I joined with a very small number of fellow artists. And we shared our work within our small group, which was very nurturing and supportive. We've helped each other along the way to learn and explore new techniques and new ways of creativity. It's been great fun, and we've stayed together since.
Show my friends that concludes index card out for 2022. Thank you for looking at the mall and thank you for your kind comments and support.
That shimmery card is lovely. Love No. 6 too - it reminds me of some cards my American friend Nancy used to do, a good few years ago now. I have to say on the rare occasion I do any art, I am a very detailed representational sort of artist, so something like this I would find difficult. I have not a clue about all the various art mediums you have used but then we don't have any arts/crafts shops within easy reach now. I'd have to go to Carmarthen or Hereford in search of those. (The Range in Carmarthen springs to mind).
ReplyDeleteSo glad that your smaller group has been so friendly and supportive and you're having such fun.
Thank you Bovey Belle. I must admit the new and ever increasing range of mediums. Can be daunting. It's one thing I really like about the index card challenge. The paper is cheap. And you get exposed to a lot of other mixed media artists and we're all happy to share our techniques and methods. It's a great way to learn and experiment. Normally I am very detailed and tight with my work, so this project helps me loosen up. Apparently it's a very good thing to do, although I fought hard against it for years. Maybe you should just get some inexpensive materials and just have a scribbling session. Art as therapy is just a brilliant way to relax, I find.
DeleteHi Deb, good morning to you! It's dark and rainy here, ugh! Love your beautiful cards. My fave is the first one, with the gorgoeus shimmer, but they are all beautiful. Well done on getting them all finished. Have a great weekend, take it easy, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThank you, Valerie. Not only did I complete the 61 day challenge this year, I completed it ahead of time. I produced more cards, and with my smaller Facebook group, I learned so much, and had a lot more fun doing it too. Have a great weekend, Hugs, Deb.
DeleteThey are all so beautiful again - love the different techniques and mediums you use. It is all so very creative. Shimmer paint is very effective. So glad you have enjoyed it all so much and had a small supportive group.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ragged Robin. The shimmer paint set was a treat. I didn't expect to enjoy using it so much or that it would be as good quality as it turned out to be for the price I paid.
DeleteThe first couple of pieces really remind me of recent sunrises over the ocean, Deb. The amount of work you have completed is quite amazing.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely first of October. We have tropical storm Ian rolling through our area. Take care. xoxo
Thank you, Martha Ellen. Yes, it was loosely based on a sunrise. Or sunset, depending on your opinion. It is quite a lot of work I've used up now, though I'm still doing work every day, but I might spend several days working on one piece instead of the pressure to do one a day that we get with index card.
DeleteIt's hard to believe it's October already, isn't it? All the best babies are born in October! Yes, I'm afraid to say Ian is going to be an unwelcome guest here too. We've been told to prepare for torrential rain and winds of 60 mile an hour plus in the coming week. Have a lovely weekend my friend. xoxo
What beautiful icads, Deb. I especially love the use of gold in the first ones. Those sunsets (sunrises?) -- fabulous. October is so pretty -- although we've yet to see the color here yet, even in the north. I'm housebound with pneumonia right now but looking out I see a lot of green. Hopefully in another few days I can get out of the house. Love these.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jeanie. We won't see any autumn colour here. We've had such a long, hot and dry summer that everything is just shrivelled. The leaves have turned brown and dry and most of them have already fallen. Way too early. I'm so sorry to hear you're poorly. Have you had the pneumonia vaccine? I had mine about 10 years ago. Hope you feel better soonest.
DeleteI think the last one is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteThank you, sue. It was a very simple one to do but very time consuming one.
DeleteI think the shimmer card is gorgeous, thanks for the three photos of it so we could see the shimmer better. While they all have wonderful things about them, my favorite one is the last one, so pretty. You have quite a collection of all that you have done this year. You must be so proud of all you have accomplished. I know you have gone out of your comfort zone several times.
ReplyDeleteAnd you are right, all the best are born in October. lol
Love and hugs,
Darlene
Thank you my friend. This year I not only completed I completed on time, I even did more than the requisite 61 cards! It was a lot of fun this year, mainly because of the great group of people I was involved with. It's all about pushing out of the comfort zone. I don't learn anything by staying comfortable.
DeleteHugs, Deb xoxo
