Hello Friends!
You've got to laugh or you will cry. Couriers get either a bad rap or a good rap. It varies from region to region, and from courier to courier. Some can't fault Evri, others think they are the worst ever, repeat for Yodel, DHL, DHS, UPS, Royal Mail etc.
On the whole, in my region Evri are good, at least on the ground. Our Evri courier is of the sort who will go the extra mile. We all think very highly of him. If there is a problem, it is generally caused by the system, not him. The only time things go radically wrong with Evri is when he goes on his holibobs and we get a relief courier who simply hasn't got a clue. Poor chap spends a week sorting out the mess made by the relief courier when he comes back to work after his time off.
Recently, problems have begun to happen in the system. I've had a few issues with parcels going astray, but today takes the biscuit.
Yesterday I ordered some goods from a major store and I paid extra to get next day delivery. I received the usual confirmation emails and sat back to await my delivery. Eventually, much later than usual, I received an email telling me my parcel was out for delivery and would be with me between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. Great! I left the porch light on. I waited . . . and I waited . . . and I waited , , ,
No parcel.
Then, shortly after 5:30, a tad late, it arrived. Relief!
Shortly afterwards I received the following advice of delivery. Please take note of the last three lines.
Well if that doesn't confuse you or put a smile on your face, nothing will. As someone told me, UN delivering a parcel takes some skill.
Here's a little painting I did from Eunice J Friend's Watercolour Wednesday's group paint along. It is going to become a special Christmas card for my Godmother.
The weather outside is fierce again as Storm Conell makes its presence felt. Heigh ho! Here we go! Wind, rain, and cold.
Until next time
Stay warm and stay safe

I just love the snowman, or should I say snowlady!? She looks very happy :)
ReplyDeleteI can sympathise with your delivery experience.
You get some drivers who go the extra mile and others who are most unhelpful.
Having said that, with the weather being so bad at least they are getting through. I understand from my Canadian blogging friends they have a mail strike there!
Have a happy end of week, I'm going to try and write the rest of my Christmas Cards.
All the best Jan
Thank you Jan. Yes, I had heard about the Canadian postal strike. What a time to pick! I am still trying to fathom out how Evri can deliver my parcel twice!
DeleteThe snowlady is going to become a special Christmas card, and I must sally forth to make the rest or I won't have enough to send.
Stay snuggly safe indoors with your card writing!
Debbie
It's wonderful if you find a regular driver who cares about the people he delivers to. But not all drivers are like that, unfortunately. I read all the lines, but had to shake my head and laugh at the last three lines. It's just crazy.
ReplyDeleteYour Winter card is simply gorgeous! So beautiful.
I wish you better weather ahead, but we both know how that is, the weather does whatever it wants. We have a week and a half of below freezing temps for the daily highs and bitter cold at night. Not ready, but here it comes.
Take care~
Thank you Darlene,
DeleteYes that delivery, or non delivery, advice is just plain odd but it puts a smile on our faces.
I hope the recipient will like her card, I think she will although maybe I should put a cat in too? lol
Are we ever ready for whatever the weather throws at us?
Enjoy your Thanksgiving with the family

What a lovely card. Well, I ordered a (hefty) gift which went astray on its way to me and got lost in a Bristol warehouse. I chased it up, Ebay seller said it was damaged and refunded me. Yesterday it arrived, perfectly OK!
ReplyDeleteIt's always the way.
DeleteThe local villages Facebook groups are always full of pleas from people with missing parcels or pictures of parcels on someone's doorstep but not theirs and vice versa.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your parcel arrived -it must be a crazy time for drivers before Christmas - so many extra parcels and dark evenings trying to find houses in the countryside without street lights
Same here, but I've never been told it's been delivered and then it will be delivered tomorrow before. Left hand not knowing what the right hand is up to!
DeleteWe’ve had the same problem with Evri, ever since our regular man left the company. It’s been hopeless. Either parcels don’t turn up at all or they turn up a week late! Changing the name from Hermes has made no difference!
ReplyDeleteThe best service that we receive is actually from Amazon! They seem to have it well sorted out.
A lovely card btw! Happy Christmas! 😁
Though not in your country we can have similar issues with deliveries Deb. With so many ordering online these days I do think it's overwhelming for them.
ReplyDeleteYour snowman is darling! I'm sure your recipient is going to love it.
Take care of yourself friend.
