Chimneys and Rooftops ~~~

Gentle Reader ~~~ as my back heals, very slowly, all too slowly, for I am an itchin' and a twitchin' to get out and garden on these gentle, mellow early days of Autumn ~~~ I am taking short and regular strolls up and down the road near my cottage.  Always with my constant companion ~ my camera ~ and just yesterday I simply started pointing the lens at all the lovely chimney pots I can see from the bottom of my drive.  I thought you would like to see them, so here they are, a small collection of beautiful old red brick and stone chimney pots.  Some of these are quite old ~~~ and there are lovely patterns of slate and lichen too, gorgeous colours ~~~

This is the roof top of an old local chapel, now a house and art gallery, but just look at the ridge tiles ~~~

Across to the fields and hills behind ~~~

A cheeky gull sits, looking across to the spires on the tower of the cathedral ~~~

An old Welsh farm cottage ~~~

another of the same ~~~

Finally, two photographs of the full Harvest Super Moon taken the night following the previous cloud covered collection here

I have enjoyed taking these chimney pots so much it gives me and idea to take more to show you, for there are many lovely ones in the village that I'm sure you'd love to see, so there is a plan~~~

I already have another diary entry typed and ready to share, but will wait a day or two, so I hope you will stop by again ~~~ in the meantime, remember ~~~

Deborah Dearest I am so glad that you have shared these wonderful shots!
I was just now watching a documentary on my computer, about storks using European chimnies to nest year after year, and then I came over and am looking at these beautiful examples! :-)

    1. Oh, some of the chimneys of Europe are wonderful, ancient, and magnificent things indeed! I have to say, though, I am glad we don't have storks nesting on our roof, there's enough problem with gulls, and storks are so much bigger! ~~~waving~~~

  4. "Chim, chimney Chim, chiminy Chim, chim, cher-ee A sweep is as lucky As lucky can be" Oh my goodness...how delightful,,,,my mind went straight to those chimney sweepers dancing up on the rooftops. Thank you Deborah....Karen is so right...you have so many beautiful things over there that we don't have to share. I love the different ones and the bird who saw and chose to model for you! What a lucky girl you are. SO glad you are able to at least get up and out for a short bit. It also looked like some of the leaves are beginning to change. Is that so! What are your temperatures at this time of year? Great photos...so looking forward to more!!! Continue to wish you better health and healing for your back....xoxoxo

  8. Thank you for more pictures of your lovely countryside (in the background) and the colorful chimney and roof tops! Were you standing in one spot or is there a road that runs above you little village? I'm assuming your village is small? Or do you live in a large town? Years ago we had a chimney sweep who dressed the part complete with top hat. It was lots of fun for the boys when he came. I hope your back heals quicker than it has been!

    1. These were taken standing in the same spot and barely turning! I would say they are all within a few hundred yards of each other at the most. Yes, chimney sweeps are now more commonly found at weddings than climbing about on the rooftops. Thank you, I hope my back picks up some healing steam soon too! I'm getting quite fed up now. ~~~waving~~~

  10. The roof tops of your homeland are just charming. One does not see too many chimney pots in the USA. I'm happy to hear your back is getting better. Be careful as you are out and about. My husband has back issues. He is quite dilligent about doing his back exercises every day. But even with those, problems can flare up. Take care of yourself! ♥

    1. There are to be more photographs of chimneys following in a few weeks! Yes, once you have a bad back you are, sadly, stuck with it, despite our best care and attention to the prevention of flare ups. I know you will understand how debilitating it can be
