Are...That is quite a mystery--and a beautiful one! Are the narcissus bulbs still in that pot? If not, perhaps what you dug up were Nerine bulbs that did not have the proper conditions where they were and therefore never made their presence known. It took them several seasons to realize they were elsewhere and now free to bloom, I would say. It's like the self-imposed prison we sometimes make for ourselves because we aren't paying attention to see that the door to the cell has been opened for us.
